Companies are increasingly orienting themselves toward the SAP Clean Core principle: uniform processes, consistent data, and a system network that is as lean and low-maintenance as possible. In a one-platform strategy, this means managing central business processes in a single system model—without parallel logic and without redundant data storage.
But it's strategic procurement, of all things, that often fails to meet this requirement. While finance, logistics, and master data have long been part of the S/4HANA model, sourcing remains the last major fragment outside of the ERP – scattered across Excel, e-mail, or external procurement suites.
Excel and e-mail workarounds undermine transparency and governance
